Mirrored Acrylic Sheet Details

Commonly, glass is used in homes and businesses for applications such as windows and mirrors. Acrylic Mirrors are becoming increasingly popular as an alternative option to glass since they are cheaper and much more shatter-resistant. Acrylic Mirrors are also more lightweight than glass, making handling and installation a lot easier. Further to this, acrylic mirrors are far stronger than glass, so the risk of them damaging or breaking is lowered. If they do break, they are less likely to shatter into sharp hazardous fragments like glass does. This makes them ideal for high-traffic areas such as homes with pets and children where safety is a concern.

We supply our Mirrored Acrylic Sheets in a variety of colours. Our typical silver mirrored acrylic sheet comes in both 3mm and 5mm and is perfect to use as gym mirrors, or in your home gym as well as as an equestrian stable mirror. It can also be used in as a cut-to-size tabletop protector to allow spaces to reflect more light into the room. Our coloured mirrors, including our smoked grey and gold acrylic mirrors, are a new addition to our Perspex® collection. Their aesthetic appeal can add a touch of elegance and sophistication to any project. The mirrored surfaces creating a reflective effect can enhance the overall visual appeal of your designs. Installation

When installing our mirrored acrylic sheets, we suggest backing them onto a hard board such as MDF along with our all in one non-solvent adhesive which is specifically designed for mirrors. Some distortion may still occur due to the nature of acrylic mirrors as they are a flexible product and this is not a manufacturing issue.

For larger mirrors (such as over 1000mm in width or length), there is a higher chance of a distorted image being reflected. To minimise this, we recommend opting for the 5mm thickness as a silver mirror, and fixing the mirror to an 18mm MDF backing - which we can supply cut to size too! If you are unsure, then we strongly advise that you use a trained professional to install your mirrors in order to maintain high-quality reflection.

Mirrored Acrylic needs to be applied on a flat surface to limit reflection distortion. Using an adhesive on the acrylic mirror sheet and using an MDF backing is the most common choice for both ease and simplicity, providing a professional, smooth finish and most importantly, a secure fit.

To install our mirrored acrylic, you can use an appropriate drill bit or adhesive glue. Make sure to apply the adhesive evenly to the surface using a roller for a secure fit. To learn more about the installation process, please refer to our mirror fitting guide.

Despite taking the precautions we have recommended, some degree of distortion may still be present due to the inherent characteristics of acrylic mirrors. Please keep in mind that your purchase includes the mirrored acrylic only, without a frame or mount.
