We have a variety of plywood types to choose from which we can cut to any size or shape on our CNC router, providing a high level of precision and exact duplication. Whatever shape you have in mind, if you can draw it, we can cut it. Just send us your drawings in either CAD format or a sketch and we can produce them. In addition to cutting any shape or curve, our CNC router can also be used for rebating, pocketing and hole cutting on plywood sheets, along with virtually any other sheet material. We also provide laser cutting and CNC engraving services so you can be as creative as you want to be.
For a great surface material for printing, you may want to consider birch plywood as it has a smooth texture. Using state-of-the-art UV printers, we can print full sheets of plywood in one go, providing a consistent finish at a much faster rate than painting. We currently only list 8x4 sheets (2440x1220mm) but we’re able to purchase and cut sheets of up to 2000x3000mm, so get in touch with our team today to discuss your project. We offer optional next-day delivery if you’re working to a tight deadline and for larger orders, we have our own transport service which operates throughout most of the UK. Have a bigger project taking place? Contact us to discuss bulk discounts and regular supply orders.
Strong yet flexible, 6mm plywood sheets are commonly used in the construction industry for their affordability and strength. There are various types of plywood to choose from, depending on the purpose of the material, as well as different grades. Plywood sheets are cost-effective and versatile, providing incredible durability owing to the method of production. The sheets are produced by layering sheets of wood together at 90-degree angles with glue, which are then compressed to produce tough and hard-wearing wood. We provide 6mm plywood sheets that can be cut down to any size or shape to suit your needs, as well as fast delivery so you can make use of your products as soon as possible.
Types of 6mm Plywood Sheet and Grading
There are several different varieties of plywood, depending on the application you’re using it for, but the four most common types of plywood are softwood, hardwood, birch and marine ply. Wood comes in a variety of grades - we offer the grades listed below. See our wood grading guide for more information on the types available.
- Softwood plywood is the most commonly manufactured plywood and is available in various thicknesses. It’s typically used in construction projects as it’s affordable and versatile. There are several grades of this wood to choose between, from C+/C grade which has knots on both sides of the wood, with those on the facing C+ side filled and touch sanded.
- Hardwood plywood is made from stronger timbers and is commonly used for applications that require longevity. Chinese hardwood plywood is a high BB/CC grade wood which means it has few knots and slight discolouration to the surface of the wood, with a CC grade reverse.
- Birch plywood that we offer comes in BB/BB grade, this is a good quality Utility Plywood as it has a solid face but may include patches and other knots/imperfections, and is described as the all-round workhorse for the trade; good for general use, furniture, painting, laminating, and veneering.
- Marine plywood is for use in environments where the wood is exposed to moisture for extended periods. The type of wood we offer has a high-quality BB/BB face grade and is well-suited to demanding environments such as gardens, bathrooms and parks as well as for roof supports and advertising panels.
Advantages of 6mm Plywood Sheets
6mm plywood sheets provide more stability than 3mm plywood sheets, while still delivering flexibility and versatility. Plywood has a lower expansion rate than MDF and is resistant to warping, twisting and shrinking, so it can be used for both vertical and horizontal installations. Plywood is also resistant to stress and capable of staying stable when heavy items are placed on it, due to its layered construction. 6mm plywood sheets are thin enough that they can be used for wall insulations, as plywood is an insulating material that helps to lower heating costs, as well as for soundproofing in rooms to minimise noise pollution. Another benefit of plywood is that it can be used for both interior and exterior applications, provided it has been treated appropriately with a wood preserver. If you need a more cost-effective sheet material with similar structural properties, you can use OSB/3 boards.
Applications of 6mm Plywood Sheets
6mm plywood can be used for a number of applications including general joinery. The thickness of this wood sheeting makes it well-suited to signage, as plywood can be used both internally and externally, as well as for packing cases and displays. It is also a great option for shelving, concrete framework and temporary structures. 6mm plywood is suitable for fascias and soffits, as well as van and trailer linings, sheds, garages and vehicle buildings.
