Details

From privacy to that extra darker shade, our dark-tinted acrylic is ideal for those wanting to add a little darkness as part of a contrasting design or to provide an extra layer of protection omitting light.

Our dark-tinted acrylic is ideal for adding that slight privacy. With slight transparency, our dark-tinted acrylic is well suited for all situations wherein light manipulation can add an additional element.

Providing that extra layer of optical privacy may not be something people immediately think to include, but adding it to caravan windows, luxury yachts, or even as a motorcycle windshield, can elevate your experience, and give you a sense of calm you may not have considered.

Providing outstanding clarity, our dark-tinted acrylic boasts excellent long-lasting UV and weather resistance, we are sure that our range of acrylics will add an extra something to your design.

Key Features

Tinted Clarity

Our dark-tinted acrylic sheets give excellent optical clarity but provide a darker shade, ideal for privacy or for omitting light. Up to 92% light transmission, higher than most types of glass, making it an advantageous option for use in windows or as a skylight.

Versatile

Ten times stronger than glass, our acrylic sheets are shattering resistant, as well as long-lasting making them ideal for use in both indoor and outdoor projects. You can expect at least 20 years of continued use from your sheeting without showing signs of deterioration.

Weather Resistant

With both UV and weather resistance, the sheets can withstand the most severe weather conditions, making them fantastic alternatives to glass windows.

Lightweight

Tinted cast acrylic weighs half as much as an equivalent glass pane, making installation, transportation, and handling an easier, and more attractive option.

Malleable

Acrylic is easy to fabricate and can be cut, drilled and shaped to any requirements, so it’s a flexible material to work with. The cut surfaces can be polished and sanded easily for a more professional finish to your sheeting.

Maintainable

Tinted Perspex® sheets are equally easy to clean, with just warm soapy water and a microfibre cloth needed to ensure a hygienic finish.

Frequently Asked Questions for Tinted Acrylic Sheets

What’s the difference between Perspex® and acrylic?

Perspex® is a brand of acrylic plastic. They are the same.

Can I get samples of your tinted acrylic?

You can request samples of any of our products: When on the store page for the material you are interested in, first select the thickness you want, then click the "Order Sample" icon at the top of the page. This will add one sample unit to the shopping cart. Make sure to check your shopping cart before checking out.

Acrylic samples come as 10cm squares and are intended to let you see the colour or finish in real life. For coloured acrylic, sometimes we won't have sample stock of the exact thickness you ask for, but you'll still get the right colours. Clear Acrylic and Tinted samples will always be the correct thickness as the thickness can be important for the properties of the product.

How much light passes through tinted acrylic sheets?

Light Tint provides up to 61% of light transmission and Dark Tint lets in up to 41% of light transmission.

Do I need polished edges?

If your item is going to be on display and is not going to be set into a frame, we recommend opting for polished edges when possible. This will leave the edges as smooth and transparent as the surface. Without this, your item may have slightly visible tool marks along the cut surfaces. This is particularly important for items that will be handled, as the edges would otherwise be rough. The effect of a polished edge will be more visible on thicker sheets of acrylic.

Is tinted acrylic Perspex® food safe?

Perspex® Acrylic Sheets comply with current EU and American (FDA) food contact regulations.

Is acrylic Perspex® heat resistant?

Perspex® sheets will melt at high temperatures or from exposure to direct flames. The melting point for Acrylic Perspex® is 80̊C so they cannot withstand extreme temperatures.

Is Cut My able to fabricate my product?

We can cut to various sizes and shapes out of flat sheets in a range of thicknesses.

How can I clean tinted Perspex® acrylic?

Keeping your Acrylic Perspex® clean and hygienic is easy to maintain, as all that is required is warm soapy water and a microfibre cloth. Please avoid using abrasive cleaners or materials, as these can scratch the surface of the material.

How resistant to scratching are your acrylic sheets?

Acrylic is not as scratch resistant as a similar panel of glass, but light surface marks can be more easily buffed out from acrylic with a plastic polish.
