Details
Our melamine-faced MDF are made up of a clean white melamine veneer which is bonded to our standard MDF board. This provides a clean white outward face to allow for a professional finish which can be easily used to replicate the look and feel of solid wood alternatives but at a more affordable price.
Our melamine boards are made up of a clean white melamine veneer that is bonded to our standard MDF board. The core of the board is our MDF with 0.5mm melamine laminate sheets applied to both faces. This results in a sleek, modern, and clean-looking melamine MDF sheet. We can provide this white MDF in thicknesses of 6mm, 12mm and 18mm.
Melamine-faced MDF is easily machinable and can be equally installed without fuss, leaving projects with a smart and professional finish. Melamine MDF is most notably used in the construction of desks or furniture that would involve consistent use. The MDF veneer is waterproof and gives life to MDF sheets that would otherwise be damaged if a drink were spilt on it.
Boasting a consistently smooth white surface, melamine sheets are perfect to use as a furniture board. They are commonly used for workbenches, wall panelling, white melamine shelving, and cabinetry as they are easily customisable while featuring scratch resistance, and water resistance aiding the strength of the MDF core. As a result, our standard grade MDF is easy for us to fabricate. With our easy-to-use product builder, you can opt for us to drill holes in your sheet if you would like to affix screws or nails, add cutouts or round the corners for your sheet. We are also able to add a 2mm paintable edge banding. This is a fantastic option for those intending to use it as desk material as it gives a cleaner look and has an ergonomically rounded edge.
While melamine is made from acrylic, our standard grade MDF core is ranked with the Euroclass D Fire Rating, therefore if you require MDF to prevent the spread of fire, please see our fire-rated MDF which can prevent the spread of fire by up to half an hour.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is melamine?
Melamine is a type of laminated wood. The lamination is applied to the outer surfaces of melamine that can be used to match it to any style of kitchen, including some laminates that resemble wood grain. Melamine is made using particles of wood, paper and resin, which are all combined under extreme pressure.
Is melamine MDF waterproof?
Melamine is waterproof, shatter and scratch-resistant, protecting any laminated MDF boards in the same way. Be careful however of the edges as those will not have any melamine protection.
How do you clean melamine?
Our white melamine board is easy to clean, using just a cloth and warm soapy water. You must also use a dry cloth to wipe away any moisture afterwards.
Can melamine boards be cut with a jigsaw?
Melamine is difficult to cleanly cut with most DIY tools, giving at best, one clean face, and one chipped side. Using a jigsaw will potentially damage both faces due to the sawing motion of the jigsaw. If you intend to cut melamine, we recommend using a circular saw.
Alternatively, we supply melamine cut to size, ensuring to give your board a smooth, chip-free finish.
What does MDF stand for?
MDF stands for medium-density fibreboard and is an engineered wood-based sheet made by bonding together wood fibres with a synthetic resin adhesive and pressure.
How strong is melamine-faced MDF?
Melamine MDF is not very strong as it is a compression of multiple fibres, however, it is very dense and durable. As a rule, if you require a sheet to hold a large weight, order a larger thickness, or contact us and we can assist you directly.
What are the best screws for MDF?
To screw into MDF you will require specific screws to prevent splitting. We recommend using screws that are purposely made for MDF as generic screws may damage the sheeting.
Does MDF warp?
MDF is prone to warping and bending when moisture is concerned. That could be as a result of liquid affecting the sheet, or even from an uneven temperature causing bowing and warping.
