See-Through Mirrored Acrylic Details

Please see below for our advice on installation.

If you're looking for a stylish and unique material for your next project, the see-through acrylic mirror may be just what you need! This versatile material is a type of plastic that has been treated with a reflective coating to create a mirrored finish but with the added twist of transparency. This two-way see-through mirror can be used as an ordinary mirror but is also see-through when you illuminate it from the opposite side. This makes it ideal to use for surveillance or security in shops, as a theatre prop or for illusionary effects in art installations. Two-way mirrors are sometimes utilized in interior design to maintain privacy while maximizing natural light. They can be used for windows, partitions, or doors, allowing light to enter a space while preventing direct visibility from the outside.

It's important to note that the effectiveness of a two-way mirror depends on lighting conditions. For the mirror to work as intended, the side with brighter lighting should serve as the viewing side, while the darker side remains more reflective.

Another advantage of Mirrored Acrylic is its versatility. It can be easily cut to size by us to fit any design or application, making it a popular choice for designers, architects, and DIY enthusiasts alike. Additionally, it is highly durable and resistant to scratches and other types of damage, making it perfect for high-traffic areas or applications that require a long lifespan.

Keeping your Acrylic Sheet clean and hygienic is also easier to maintain than a glass mirror, as all that is required is warm soapy water and a microfibre cloth.

When you choose to purchase from Cut My, exceptional customer service, prompt delivery, and expert cutting techniques are our standard. Our cutting tolerance is maintained at +/- 1mm which ensures precise results. If you are looking for a standard mirror glass alternative, we also provide silver mirrored sheets in both 3mm and 5mm. To help you find the ideal colour or finish, we provide the option to order a sample before finalizing your order.

Installation

For installation, we suggest using a hard board and an adhesive designed to be used with mirrors, the adhesive must be non-solvent and applied evenly to the surface with a roller. See our mirror fitting guide to learn more. Some distortion may still occur due to the nature of acrylic mirrors, the distortion of the acrylic mirror is a characteristic of this product and is not a manufacturing issue.

Using an adhesive on the acrylic mirror sheet and using an MDF backing is the most common choice for both ease and simplicity, providing a professional, smooth finish and most importantly, a secure fit.

Please note that the larger the mirror the higher the chance of a distorted image being reflected, to avoid this we recommend fixing to an 18mm MDF backing and ensuring the mirror is installed fully flush to the MDF or a completely smooth wall. We strongly advise that you use a trained professional to install your mirrors in order to maintain high-quality reflection.

Acrylic mirrors are more flexible than traditional glass mirrors and need to be perfectly flat to prevent distortion. For installation, we suggest using a hard board such as MDF and an adhesive designed to be used with mirrors, the adhesive must be non-solvent and applied evenly to the surface with a roller. See our mirror fitting guide to learn more.

Some distortion may still occur due to the nature of acrylic mirrors, the distortion of the acrylic mirror is a characteristic of this product and is not a manufacturing issue.

Please note you are purchasing mirrored acrylic, there is no frame or mount included.

To install our mirrored acrylic, you only require either an appropriate drill bit or adhesive glue. While we do strongly advise that you use a professional to install your mirrors, we have also provided a DIY guide for how to install your mirror. We do also recommend that if you are intending on getting the mirror to look flat, it is backed on an engineered flat, and strong surface, such as our 18mm MDF.

100% recyclable logo

100% Recyclable

Perspex® Acrylic is 100% recyclable. Waste products can readily be recovered from the original raw material (the monomer) and re-used in a new sheet.

Perspex® has been manufactured in the UK for over 85 years and still takes place on the same site in Lancashire as it did in the 1930s. This short supply distance to our UK customers helps reduce ‘product miles’ from the manufacturing plant to the end user.

Numerous different investments have already been made by Perspex® to lessen the impact on the environment. Annual waste consumption has been reduced by 24 million litres, and almost 800 tonnes of carbon dioxide have been saved every year as part of a hot water recycling project. At Cut My, we work to be more sustainable by using all of our offcuts to heat our manufacturing facility. We are also currently working towards reducing our packaging.

The quality of the product was excellent. Without holding it I would have thought it was glass. It was expertly cut to my specifications and did the job that I needed it for. The reason I docked one star for 'value for money' was because I was charged a small order fee which significantly added to the cost of the order. However, I knew about this before ordering and it would certainly not deter me from using this company again.
