24mm Plywood Details

Material & Grade Options

  • Birch Plywood (BB/BB Grade): A premium plywood with a smooth, clean face. While small patches and knots may be present, it remains one of the most visually appealing plywood types, perfect for furniture, decorative applications, and cabinetry.
  • Brazilian Softwood Plywood (C+/C Grade): A structural plywood with a C+ face (allowing for some filled knots and surface variations) and a C-grade reverse (which may have visible defects). Ideal for flooring, wall sheathing, and general construction where appearance is less critical.
durable

Strength & Durability

  • At 24mm thick, both plywood types offer excellent load-bearing capacity, making them suitable for heavy-duty projects.
  • Birch plywood has superior strength and resistance to warping, making it ideal for precision applications.
  • Brazilian softwood plywood is lightweight, sturdy, and cost-effective, commonly used in structural and industrial settings.
customisation

Customisation Options

We can cut plywood to your exact specifications, with additional options available:

  • Drilled holes for fittings and fixings
  • Rounded corners for safety and design aesthetics
  • Cutouts for sockets, handles, and ventilation
  • Choice of grain direction for the best aesthetic results in furniture and interior projects
paintable

Finishing & Workability

  • Both birch and softwood plywood are easy to cut, drill, and shape, making them adaptable to a wide range of applications.
  • Birch plywood has a naturally smooth finish, taking well to adhesives, paints, stains, and varnishes for a refined appearance.
  • Brazilian softwood plywood is best suited for construction and industrial use, and while it can be painted or sealed, it is not typically chosen for decorative projects.
  • We offer an optional matt lacquer finish on birch plywood for added durability and a professional look.
indoors and outdoors

Indoor & Outdoor Suitability

  • Birch plywood is mainly for indoor use unless properly sealed for external applications.
  • Softwood plywood is more commonly used for outdoor projects, but a protective sealant is recommended to improve weather resistance.
  • For fully exposed outdoor applications, we suggest marine-grade plywood for the best moisture resistance.

Unfortunately, the marine plywood started separating at the edges after 2 weeks. It was very hot weather, followed by cool, wet weather - but this is supposed to be marine grade plywood. Had to glue and clamp the wood to re-bond.
