Is Perspex® acrylic good to use as a tabletop?

Acrylic tabletop protectors add safety and reassurance that your table will last longer. Acrylic also makes for an ideal surface for tables as it is easy to clean and can be tailored and personalised to fit styles and tastes.

Why would I not just use glass as a clear table protector?

Acrylic is cheaper than glass! Our Acrylic table tops also give ten times the impact resistance of glass, so they are much less likely to shatter. This means that even with small children or pets, our sheets are safer to use if accidents do happen.

How do you protect an acrylic tabletop?

Once the edges are polished, they are as smooth and transparent as the surface of the tabletop. If the table top is to be set within an existing table and the edges are concealed, then no other polishing is required. Perspex® tabletop sheets are also easy to clean, with just warm soapy water and a microfibre cloth needed to ensure a hygienic finish. You can also polish them to buff out any scratches.

How do I attach my tabletop protector to my current table?

We can pre-drill your tabletop protector to make installing with screws simpler, but you might want a less permanent solution. You could stick some of our self-adhesive rubber ‘feet’ to the underside of the sheet, which will help stop the Acrylic from slipping while in use.

Which thickness should I choose for an acrylic table top?

If you are using this as a table top protector, then we recommend a thickness of 2mm, 3mm or 4mm. As a Table Top Replacement, a thickness of at least 5mm is recommended. This also depends on the number of supports you have under your table. If you are unsure, please contact our customer experience team who will be able to advise you.

Cut to perfect size and quick delivery, but the edges of the metal sheet splash back I bought had flakes/remanence from the cutting still attached. I needed to carefully scrape down the edges to remove the flakes without damaging the black brushed composite.

My boss mounts a small outboard on a wooden bracket at the stern of her yacht, for her tender. This bracket was 30 years old and rotting. I ordered two small pieces of 25mm marine ply of just the right size. No cutting required. Just screwed them together and varnished. Swapped the fittings over and attached it to the railing on her yacht. Looks great and having the wood cut for me saved me some work and made the project super easy.

I required an outlet for a new portable air conditioner. Although the conditioner itself is perfect, the manufacturer’s solution for fixing the vent to a window was rubbish. This company (“Cut My”) provided me with a piece of Perspex (laser) cut to the exact size with a perfect circular hole (for the vent tube) in exactly the place I specified and using Velcro tape I can now fix the vent over my window without detracting from the appearance of the window and thereby the perfect solution to my problem. Ordering, payment and delivery was perfect and the Perspex looks like real glass covering a large window. Thank heavens for the internet as I would have been stuck with a scruffy fix. My only suggestion is that Cut My should work with the manufacturer if the equipment and develop a fix for others to use as it beats their proposal hands-down. Well done Cut My (but what an awful company name!).
