We provide a range of different types of MDF sheeting which can be cut to any size or shape using our CNC router for a high level of precision and repeatability. Whatever shape you need for your chosen project, we can create it – all you need to do is send us your drawings, in either CAD format or a sketch, and we can cut it to size for you. Alongside cutting any shape or curve, our CNC router can be used for rebating, pocketing and hole cutting on MDF sheets, as well as virtually any other sheet material. We also offer the option to add laser cutting and CNC engraving services, and mitred edges to your MDF sheets.
Using the latest in UV printing technology, we can print full sheets of MDF in one go, providing a consistent finish at a much faster rate than painting. We currently only list 8x4 sheets (2440x1220mm) but we’re able to purchase and cut sheets of up to 2000x3000mm, so contact our team today to discuss your individual requirements. With optional next day delivery, your products can be with you quickly and for larger orders, we have our own transport service which operates throughout most of the UK. If you have an ongoing project taking place, get in contact with us to discuss bulk discounts and regular supply orders.
6mm MDF is an adaptable material with a smooth surface that takes well to laminates, paints and veneers. It is produced from a mix of hard and soft woods, sawdust and recycled chippings which are combined with resins to create a light but durable sheet material. MDF can be used in a number of different projects and applications, both in commercial settings and around the home, and is easy to work with. We offer a variety of MDF types to choose from, each with its own set of properties that make them ideal for different settings. We offer various sizes of MDF sheets online with our most popular being 12mm MDF sheets and 18mm MDF sheets, cut to size or shape.
Types of 6mm MDF
There are different varieties of MDF with distinctive properties, depending on the application you’re using it for. Wood comes in a variety of grades – we offer the grades listed below for our different types of MDF. See our wood grading guide for more information on the types available.
- Moisture resistant MDF can be used in areas of homes or businesses where moisture or humidity is an issue, such as bathrooms, kitchens or storage areas. This makes it a great choice for our bathroom & kitchen wall panelling kits.
- Premier MDF sheeting is a high-quality material that makes use of superior wood refining technology and high-grade resins for greater consistency both in terms of thickness and quality. This form of MDF is best-suited to furniture, toys or cabinetry, delivering a reliable and uniform result.
- Fire rated MDF is commonly used in schools, hospitals, offices or cinemas and can provide up to 60 minutes of fire protection when used in applications such as doors, kick plates or partitions.
- Veneered MDF is made up of our usual MDF with the addition of a 0.5mm real wood veneer; these sheets come sanded, but un-edged.
Advantages of 6mm MDF Sheets
Affordable, easy to work with and lightweight – there are many advantages to choosing MDF over other types of wood. This cost-effective material works for a host of different budgets and projects and offers great versatility. There are various types of MDF, from moisture-resistant MDF to Medite Premier MDF that provides a smooth and clear face for applications where the appearance of the wood is important. MDF is easy to mark up for cutting and installation as it has a smooth surface, and it takes well to screws, nails and glues so fixing it in place is quick and easy. MDF is well-suited to interior projects and applications and providing it doesn’t come into direct contact with water, it provides a stable and durable finish.
Applications of 6mm MDF Sheets
6mm MDF is an adaptable and versatile material that can be used in a number of different ways, providing flexibility and durability due to the thinness of the sheeting. It can be used for boxing in pipes, making cabinets and shelves, for creating children’s toys and jigsaws, as well as for speaker cabinets, door panelling and furniture. 6mm MDF is affordable and easy to work with, as it is a lightweight material that can be cut to size and installed quickly.
