We offer various types of plywood which we can cut to any size or shape using our CNC router for a precise finish and easy duplication. Whatever shape you require, we can cut it – just send us your CAD drawing or a sketch of what you need. As well as cutting hardwood plywood sheets, our CNC router can also be used for rebating, pocketing and cutting holes for a quicker and easier installation process. We also provide the option of laser cutting, CNC engraving for added customisation.
If you’re in need of a plywood for printing purposes, you may want to take a look at our birch plywood sheets which provide a smooth and consistent finish. Our state-of-the-art UV printers allow us to print full sheets of plywood at once, providing a professional result at a much faster rate than painting. We currently only list 8 x 4 sheets (2440 x 1220mm) but we’re able to purchase and cut sheets of up to 2000 x 3000mm, so get in touch with our team today to discuss your requirements. We offer optional next day delivery if you’re working to a tight deadline and for larger orders, we have our own transport service which operates throughout most of the UK. Have a large project taking place? Contact us to discuss bulk discounts and regular supply orders.
15mm hardwood plywood is a durable and stable material that can be used both inside and outside for a range of applications. Hardwood plywood is made from thin layers of hardwood timber which are laid at right angles and bonded together with a resin adhesive for a hard-wearing material that is resistant to bending and warping. This material is commonly used for general joinery as well as for creating chests and wardrobes, cabinets and storage areas, sheds and much more.
Wood comes in a variety of grades - we offer the grades listed below for hardwood plywood sheets. Please see our plywood grading guide for more information on the types available.
Hardwood plywood is made from stronger timbers and is commonly used for applications which require longevity. Chinese hardwood plywood is a high BB/CC grade wood which means it has few knots and slight discolouration to the surface of the wood, with a CC grade reverse.
Hardwood plywood is popular in construction projects as it’s a cost-effective and versatile material that delivers fantastic strength to weight ratio. It’s also easy to cut and machine, so it can be fabricated and installed using standard power tools, making it ideally suited to DIY projects. This type of plywood won’t splinter or crack when used with screws or nails, plus it’s resistant to bending or warping for a long-lasting result in any application. Hardwood plywood is more stable than standard wood and is the perfect solution for applications that require a budget-friendly material without compromising on quality. other popular sizes include 12mm hardwood plywood and 18mm hardwood plywood.
Hardwood plywood can be used for a number of different applications and 15mm plywood is thick enough that it delivers excellent stability and strength as well. It can be used for furniture, cabinetry, chests and closets, as well as for kitchens, doors and panelling. 15mm hardwood plywood can also be used for architectural applications and construction projects. Hardwood plywood can be used for interior and exterior uses but if the wood is being used outside then it needs to be treated with an appropriate wood preserver to prevent the wood deteriorating. We also offer marine plywood, birch plywood and softwood plywood.
Thinner 4mm plywoods work well for crafts and hobby projects. Choose 6mm ply for cabinet backs, 9mm or 12mm ply for furniture and shelving, and 18mm plywood for flooring, subfloors, and heavy-duty uses.
Our plywood comes unfinished, although we do offer a lacquering service. You can choose to apply a clear lacquer using the options at the top of the page.
Keep sheets flat and supported on a level surface in a dry, conditioned space. Avoid excessive moisture and standing water which can warp plywood over time, and rotate stock to evenly distribute acclimation.
Use a sharp fine-tooth blade on a table saw or circular saw and cut with the good face up to reduce tear-out. Take it slow and make multiple shallow passes when needed. Consider taping veneer seams before cutting.
Yes, plywood edges glue together effectively with PVA wood glue and proper clamping. For the best results, remove any rough edges first and join with the direction of the wood grains aligned.
Plywood panel edges can be finished with solid wood edging, edge banding, trim pieces, or by simply staining/painting for a clean finished look. If using your hardwood ply outdoors, you should seal the edges to prevent moisture damage.
We sell a variety of types of plywood, including softwood, marine, and birch, all of which have specific characteristics and will aid specific projects. For more information on the respected types, read their descriptions at the bottom of their product pages.
Plywood should be sealed to prevent moisture from affecting the sheets and causing warping. The sealant you use will depend based on how you intend to use the plywood, but you should use something quick-drying and can withstand all temperatures, and be compatible with paint if you intend to paint your plywood.
