The term "wainscot" is derived from the German words "wand" (wall) and "schotten" (to board or line with wood). Historically, wainscoting was used as a practical solution to insulate and protect the lower part of walls from moisture, damage from furniture, and general wear and tear.
Beyond its functional and aesthetic purposes, wainscot panelling can also serve as a design element to create visual interest and define different spaces within a room. For example, it can be used to separate an entryway from a living area or to create the illusion of separate zones within an open-concept layout.

Wainscot Wall Panelling with a Dado Rail
A dado rail adds a traditional touch to your half-height panelling and makes the perfect wainscot cap. A wainscot cap gives the panelling a more traditional, classic look than shaker wall panelling on its own.
Many of our customers add a wainscot cap to their hallway panelling and paint the top half of the wall a complementary neutral colour. "Cut My" sold us four large triangles ( approx 1.6 x 1.0m) of polycarbonate and acrylic. They were supplied exactly as specified, and for a fair price. We are using them to encapsulate (and so protect) three large panels of stained glass. So far, they are working very well.

Easy to use and order online. Large selection of materials and finishes. I ordered a number of large pieces to finish a front room media wall project in oak. Unfortunatly in transit despite being very well packaged some of the corners were damanaged but I was able to use them in my project in a way to minimise the damage. Cut My did refund me some money on the order as a result and I will be ordering again to finish the project so this did not put me off.

I ordered primed MDF, the main face was primed but the letdown was the cut edge wasn't. The edge you're expecting to be primed.
Not sure of the suitability of the PVA, especially after it splits and leaks in the delivery process. Thankfully the leak was all over the rear of a board.
