Frequently Asked Questions
What sizes are available for these shelves?
These shelves are available in fixed lengths of 500mm, 600mm, 700mm, 800mm, 900mm, and 1000mm — all with a standard depth of 235mm and a sturdy 25mm thickness.
Are these shelves ready for immediate dispatch?
Yes! These standard sizes are held in stock and typically dispatched much quicker than our made-to-measure options, often within 1–2 working days.
Do the shelves come with brackets and fixings?
Yes — brackets are included with every shelf. We do not supply screws or wall plugs, as the correct type will depend on your specific wall material. Please select appropriate fixings to suit masonry, plasterboard, or timber walls.
Can I order a custom size?
Yes, we also offer a made-to-measure shelf service if you need a specific length, depth, or finish to suit your space. Custom-sized orders will require additional lead time and are made to your exact specifications, so please double-check measurements before ordering.
What is the finish and material of these shelves?
These shelves are made from high-quality 25mm melamine-faced MDF in a clean, white finish — durable, easy to clean, and perfect for modern interiors. Please note that, as a manufactured wood product, these are unsuitable for prolonged high humidity or moisture exposure.
How much weight can these floating shelves hold?
When installed correctly into a solid masonry wall using heavy-duty fixings, each shelf can support up to 5-10kg evenly distributed across its length. For plasterboard or stud walls, we strongly recommend fixing into wooden studs or noggins and using suitable plasterboard anchors — the load capacity in these cases will be significantly reduced.
Disclaimer: All weight capacity figures are approximate and depend entirely on correct installation, wall condition, fixing method, and the weight being evenly distributed. We are not responsible for damage caused by improper installation or overloading.
How should I clean and maintain the shelves?
These white melamine shelves are very easy to maintain — just wipe down with a soft, damp cloth and a mild, non-abrasive detergent when needed. Dry thoroughly after cleaning to avoid moisture seeping into any exposed MDF edges.
Disclaimer: Avoid abrasive cleaners, scouring pads, bleach, or steam cleaning as these can damage the surface. Shelves are not waterproof and should not be installed in bathrooms, wet rooms, or near direct heat sources such as radiators.
