Oak Veneer Sheet Details
Our popular oak veneered MDF is made up of an excellent quality real oak wood veneer which is bonded to our standard MDF. The core is 18mm MDF, with a 0.5mm laminate veneer applied to both faces. By slicing the real oak, we produce a crown cut veneer that gives a recognisable great iconic grain for the veneer which can be customised in the direction of your oak veneered MDF board.
Each oak veneered MDF piece showcases unique natural variations, making it one-of-a-kind. With a spectrum of shades, colours, and textures, including organic knots, it embodies the captivating imperfections found in natural wood. Embracing the individuality of each piece, the inherent warmth and charm of oak wood add character to any space.
As an adaptable material, our oak veneer MDF boards are versatile for office furniture, kitchen cabinets, floating wall shelves, slat wall panels, dining sets, and fire surrounds as well as being perfect for being stained and painted if you wish to.
Due to its smooth and stable faces, MDF is also used for decorative wood or laminate veneers and it can easily be drilled and cut to specific sizes. With our CNC machine, we are fully equipped to customise your oak veneered MDF to be cut to size, or with any measurements or requirements, including preparing for fixings with screws or nails with our drilled holes and cutout options.
The lightweight MDF sheets are also easy to mark up for cutting, or sanding down, and can be cut to various shapes and forms with ease using an electric saw, router or handsaw. If you wish to further cut your MDF European oak veneer sheets, see our guide, though note that correct protection such as dust masks and goggles should be worn when handling MDF.
MDF is manufactured from wood fibres, mixed with resin and waxes which are then hot pressed to the required thickness. These wood fibres are sourced from environmentally friendly forest thinnings, recycled wood or pallets, and sawdust. All our suppliers provide FSC and PEFC certifications.
Oak veneered MDF is a timeless choice – and with A/B grade sheets, you get a refined, furniture-grade oak veneer on the A face. We always prioritise the A face when cutting, especially for installations where the front view matters most, like kitchens doors and desktops. The way your sheet displays in our visualiser matches how we’ll treat the A-facing side during production.

Oak Veneer Additional Options
Lacquering Protection
Our lacquering service offers a professional, matt finish that enhances both the appearance and durability of the material. The spray-painted matt lacquer provides a sleek, modern aesthetic while protecting the surface from scratches, stains, and moisture. This treatment extends the lifespan of the oak veneer, ensuring it remains attractive and resilient over time. Additionally, the lacquered finish is easy to clean and maintain, making it an ideal choice for furniture, cabinetry, and interior design projects where both style and practicality are essential.
Need Finished Edges?
Choose from matching or contrasting edge banding in the product options. Edge banding offers several key benefits, enhancing both the durability and appearance of your project. It seals and protects the exposed edges, preventing damage from moisture, impacts, or chipping, which helps maintain the structural integrity of the board. Edge banding also provides a seamless, professional finish that perfectly complements the oak veneer, ensuring a consistent and polished look. Additionally, it adds to the longevity of the material, making it more resistant to everyday wear and tear.

I ordered 4 shelves from Cutmy to be 1252 mm with finished edges all round. They have arrived at 1253mm finished and are therefore too wide to fit. The website states there may be a 1mm tolerance on unfinished goods, however mine are finished with veneered banding all round, so this does not apply.
Their email
Hi Peter,
Thank you for your email.
I’d like to clarify a few points regarding the board you received.
Firstly, the mention of “Finish - Oak Veneered (unfinished edges)” refers to the standard specification of our boards. As standard, the boards are supplied with unfinished edges unless edge banding is specifically requested.
Regarding the size, you requested a total length of 1252mm. The board you received measures 1253mm, which includes the edge banding. The board was cut to 1253mm prior to edge banding. During the edge banding process, the machine applies a 1mm thick banding and simultaneously trims 1mm from the board edge. This means that whether edge banding is applied or not, the final finished size would be 1253mm.
Additionally, the cutting equipment used has a tolerance of ±1mm, so the final dimension is within the acceptable tolerance range.
We hope this clarifies the matter, but please don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have any further questions.
